On the 21st - 22nd August, we welcomed some of the brightest 10 to 15 year olds in the country for our first annual basketball camp. Despite the weather the Club attracted around 20 juniors of varying abilities for the 2 day camp, which focused on improving the fundamentals of the players, as well as giving them an opportunity to compete against each other.

The regular Tropics junior coaches Brett Henson, Adam Williams, Matt "Murph" McPherson and Daniel "Smooth" Powell were joined by senior and Club head coach David "RUN" Williams.  Our guest coach for the day was respected league referee and long time junior coach, Justin Thompson.

As well as current Welsh development players, the camp was also attended by players from Baglan, Bridgend and even as far as Essex!  Over the course of the 2 days, all of the players, of varying age ranges, showed excellent commitment to learning and improving their current skills, and competed strongly throughout.

The attititude award winners and the Most Valuable Players each received a Molten basketball, kindly donated by the Club's main sponsor, Dividend Training Ltd.

 

We hope this will be the first of many camps that we run, as on the evidence of this weekend, there is a plethora of talented, committed youngsters throughout the region.  The development and enjoyment of the players was evident to all of the coaches, all of whom commented on the heart and attention displayed by ALL those that attended.  We hope to see them back for the next camp.
